The Asphalt Plant Operator Trainee will follow directions instructions and specifications as determined by supervisor. Will work and operate equipment in a safe manner and adhere to all safety and environmental rules.

Essential duties and responsibilities:
  • Responsible for manufacturing various asphalt products according to mix design and customer jobsite specifications.
  • Performs pre and post shift inspections and reports condition of plant for items needing repair
  • Operates controls to batch material.
  • Reads and/or writes delivery tickets to determine mix design called for each load.
  • Performs calculations for differing load sizes.
  • Loads Hot Mix asphalt into haul trucks.
  • Issue delivery tickets to haul truck driver.
  • Operates loader to supply material to the plant.
  • Communicates with dispatchers and drivers.
  • Controls inventory of materials.
  • Ensure all tools are stored properly at the end of each shift.
  • Responsible for notifying department lead of any potential safety or equipment issues immediately.
  • Responsible for following processes and procedures correctly.
  • Responsible for wearing appropriate clothing, shoes, and personnel protective equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Manage operations of grading crews, subcontractors, quality control support, logistics directly in a defined region.
  • Schedule equipment, manpower, and material needed for your project.
  • Achieve optimum utilization of equipment, material, and labor maximizing production and minimizing costs.
  • Ensure safety of crew members as well as the public who may interact with projects.
  • Maintain company policies.
  • Maintain project records, review and approve daily timecards, communicate and manage change orders, approve invoices, and attend project meetings.
  • Understand and conform with project drawings, specifications, and any/all special or quality requirements.
  • Maintain positive communications with owners, general contractors, engineers, inspectors, and anyone directly involved with the project.
  • Provide project status daily, to include all aspects, whether positive or negative.

The Asphalt Plant Operator Trainee will follow directions instructions and specifications as determined by supervisor. Will work and operate equipment in a safe manner and adhere to all safety and environmental rules.

Essential duties and responsibilities:
  • Responsible for manufacturing various asphalt products according to mix design and customer jobsite specifications.
  • Performs pre and post shift inspections and reports condition of plant for items needing repair
  • Operates controls to batch material.
  • Reads and/or writes delivery tickets to determine mix design called for each load.
  • Performs calculations for differing load sizes.
  • Loads Hot Mix asphalt into haul trucks.
  • Issue delivery tickets to haul truck driver.
  • Operates loader to supply material to the plant.
  • Communicates with dispatchers and drivers.
  • Controls inventory of materials.
  • Ensure all tools are stored properly at the end of each shift.
  • Responsible for notifying department lead of any potential safety or equipment issues immediately.
  • Responsible for following processes and procedures correctly.
  • Responsible for wearing appropriate clothing, shoes, and personnel protective equipment.

  • Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.

  • Clean, lubricate, and perform other route maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
